Treehouse

Our treehouses are made from living trees, making them "carbon negative." Being carbon negative means they absorb more carbon dioxide than they emit, having an even more positive environmental impact than carbon neutrality.

Energy

This facility is entirely fossil fuel-free, powered solely by electricity. Our solar panels generate between 1,000 and 3,200 kilowatt of electricity per month—more than enough to meet our needs.
In addition, we source renewable energy from Okinawa Electric Power Co.'s "Uchina-CO2 Free Menu," which includes solar, wind, and biomass energy from Okinawa Prefecture. This renewable energy supply, certified as non-fossil, significantly reduces our carbon footprint. We choose CO2-free energy, which costs about 5% more than standard electricity rates, to support sustainable practices.
Instead of using fuel-powered mowers, our team member, Donna, the goat, helps keep the grass trimmed naturally.

Space

All treehouses and Aero Houses are elevated more than 1.2 meters above the ground, allowing sunlight to reach the earth below so plants can grow naturally. This design minimizes disruption to the habitats and movement patterns of local microorganisms and wildlife.

Water

This facility uses an Eco-Cute system, which heats and stores water overnight for use during the day, making efficient use of electricity. A limited-capacity water tank supplies hot water, encouraging guests to appreciate the importance of conserving water. The tank provides enough hot water for four showers and one bath per day.
Our water is drawn from a well on the riverbank of the pristine Genka River, one of Okinawa’s most beautiful rivers, which flows right in front of the property. The water is purified using ultraviolet light, making it safe to drink and without any impact on the natural environment.

Waste

The Spiral Treehouse is equipped with a composting toilet, turning human waste into nutrient-rich soil that helps plants grow.

Wood

The wood used to build our treehouses contains about 50% carbon, which plays an important role in carbon sequestration. This means it stores carbon dioxide (CO₂) absorbed by plants and microorganisms as carbon compounds, helping to reduce CO₂ levels in the atmosphere.

Sustainable Design Concept

Building a True Treehouse

Our top priority is to create an authentic treehouse. This means supporting the entire structure using a living tree without relying on ground pillars. In the Spiral Treehouse, for example, everything is suspended from above. This unique approach to architecture is entirely different from conventional buildings that start from the ground.

Respecting Local Wildlife and Ecosystems

The structure is raised more than 120 centimeters above the ground, allowing animals, insects, plants, and microorganisms to live and move freely beneath it, with access to both sunlight and rain.

Allowing Natural Rain and Sunlight to Reach the Ground

To support the ecosystem below, our bridges, aerial walkways, and treehouse floors are designed with slats and narrow spacing. This slit-shaped design allows rain and sunlight to pass through, nourishing the plants and creatures below.

Blurring the Line Between People and Nature

Our terraces serve as shared spaces for both people and wildlife. The party tree deck, which connects to the Aero House, is one such example where the boundary between nature and people is removed, allowing guests to experience a deep sense of connection with nature. Inside the treehouses, guests can even reach out and touch the living tree trunks, feeling fully immersed in the natural environment.
